I have to be honest – I was not initially interested in going – only because I had seen them as a opening act for another band last year where they were really good. But when talked into going I thought – hmmm on their own how will this turn out… Well – I was pleasantly surprised! They were really awesome… I actually wish they would have cranked up the volume a bit – could have had much more impact – but still absolutely fabulous….
It’s great to see a female band make it after all these years. A sold out crowd and the house sure was rocking. Celebrity Theater is a great venue – it’s been around for 50 years and has definitely been able to stand the test of time! I wasn’t able to get as many photos as I normally get a concerts – small venue – lots of heads in the way, but I was able to get a handful. Enjoy!
Now – there really isn’t much to say about seeing the FF’s except that it was exactly everything I expected and more! From the crowds anxiously anticipated start – where they dramatically hoist up the infamous Foo Fighters logo’s curtain – quite awesome – to the final ‘goodnight’ it was endless entertainment. David Grohl basically has the crowd in his hand the entire show! He’s is personable, entertaining, talented, and just a great story teller. Even his “thrown” was better in person that in all of the endless stories we’ve all heard about and seen since his incident in Sweden when he broke his leg (ouch, quite a severe break). I, for one, appreciate his open opinion on everything he talks about. Yes – he throws around the “F” word like a truck driver, but I find it part of who he is…
This video is not exactly the best quality – so please check him out on other You Tube videos or better yet buy one of his CD’s – great music for sure!
Talk about being lucky… If you saw my post below from my previous opportunity to see him on the Keeping the Blues Alive where I 1st saw Ryan McGarvey I was lucky enough to catch him in Denver a few weeks back. I can not speak highly enough regarding this guys talent…. the whole band is great and it was so nice to see then again… They were awesome as expected and because it was such a small venue they were cool enough to hang out after the concert as you can see by my attached pics. Just truly humble, polite, very personable and wonderful guys! They do great when it comes to drawing in an audience overseas, but they just haven’t had the success they truly deserve here in the States. So, to all folks that read my posts that live any where new Phoenix MUST come see him if he comes to town. In my excitement hanging with him I made a commitment of ‘millions’ to attend. OK I didn’t promise that many, but a few hundred would be really cool… He really truly is that good – so please oh please add them to your preferred site to remind you of concerts coming to town like Songkick or Bandsintown… Enter Ryan McGarvey right this very second – you will not want to miss him and I promise you will be happy you did!!!!
Every time I see a band I always have those typical descriptions – awesome, great, etc. Well Rush falls into the category of “epic”… I mean it’s just an experience you almost can’t put into words… If you have gone to a Rush concert, you know exactly what I mean – If you haven’t I truly feel for you – because you may not have that chance – hate to say, but this really might be their last tour… ugh!!! I will attend until they are walking out with walkers I needed… They are that great! Hard core Rush fans would agree for sure!!!!
From their intro to the show – lots of cool videos that they show good old pictures through their history – skits they do that simply hilarious – even some great snippets from the movie I Love You Man (If I have to explain, then I know you have never seen the movie… If you haven’t seen, you simply have to – these guys are obsessed with Rush and it’s really awesome)…..
So for those true Rush fans that haven’t seen them, well “IF’ they do tour again, mark your calendar cause you have flat out missed out on an experience you will never soon forget!
What else can I say except… he still has it! Man oh man – we are all getting up there in age, but to be able to listen to one of the best of all time – let’s face it, he’s in his 70’s and he can still sing like I remember from back in the day! Folks say – they are all old and losing their original sound… Oh – I will adamantly disagree. First off haven’t we all changed… AND my test is close my eyes, think back to the 70’s and when I think of those days it puts a smile on my face and I’m in 7th heaven… I actually feel sorry for the youngsters – Yes, I see a lot of younger folks attend these shows and love the music, but they can’t relate to “our” first time of seeing these incredibly awesome acts. You will notice through my articles that I like to see those I never could see back when I wish I could have, but I truly appreciate seeing these bands now and hope they have a few more years left in them. I literally get ‘choked up’ when I see them… I feel 18 all over again – at least for a few hours!!! Thank you for that Steve!!!!
I took a video of Jet Airliner – not the best quality visually, but to me “I was there” so to me it’s the best video EVER…
Here’s the deal with Ryan – he is INCREDIBLE… He just doesn’t seem to tour much here in the US… I was lucky enough to see him on the Joe Bonamassa Blues Cruise in February… He definitely left a mark… So much that I’m probably going to fly up to Denver to see him… it’s the only date I see in the US this year… ugh!!!! Ryan come to the States – Phoenix in particular!!!
Until then you all really need to check this guy out… Super blues talent… I took a ton of pictures as well as this video below… I highly encourage you to see his website to checkout his blue awards, videos, etc. And a super nice guy – had the chance to meet him after his set and he was so humble and a really sweet guy!!!
Here is his official video for his song Memphis…. very awesome!
I can’t believe I have never been to the MIM (Music Instrumental Museum) here in Phoenix. It was a most incredible venue. But let’s talk about Allen Stone!!! I happen to catch him on the Live From Daryl’s House show – tuned in and was instantly impressed. Well luck be it – the next thing I knew there he was scheduled at a venue I’ve always wanted to go to. So from there my love of his music and his stage presence has begun! I really cannot speak more highly about him. If you have ready my stories at all – I don’t think I’ve been to a bad concert (well maybe a few) but in general I simply just LOVE music. There are some artists that leave an extremely deep connection – and Allen is one that just leaves that kind of impression. I was lucky enough to have a few of my friends come with that really had very little exposure to him and left as impressed as I was. He’s one of those artists I would really love to meet. From the start of the concert – where he really impresses the fact that the live experience that cannot be duplicated and is special between him and us – really seemed to be a sincere comment. Not just by him saying it, but by the way he performed. It’s as if he felt part of ‘our’ evening, not just him singing to us!
It was probably the BEST R&B live performance I’ve been to… There is no doubt I will see him when possible again. I have since bought his newest album and it is really is a treat. He write his own songs (very heart felt) and can also do some cover music and really pay incredible homage to the memorable R&B singers from the past. Just so heartfelt – I have included a few photos as I usually do and a video of one of the songs – but if you want a real treat Youtube some of his songs music, songs, concerts, interviews. He also has a hilarious Uber snippet where is drives folks around – some that recognize and some that don’t… very funny! Anyway – you just gotta check him out – you will not be disappointed. His voice has such range it will just melt your heart – just jaw dropping for sure!
I was never able to attend an Aerosmith concert back in the day… So, I have nothing to compare to except the endless listening to Aerosmith through my youth and beyond. From the second they all stepped on sage – I actually felt young again as if it was their 1st time on stage – I’m a teen – and I’m going to my 1st concert! Steven Tyler is so inspiring, I mean he’s getting close to the magical age of 70… (a few years to go, but you know what I mean) and he still runs around on stage like he’s a youngster.
Well – here I am again Blues’ing (new word I just made up!) out to Joe Bonamassa. I simply cannot believe how awesome this guy is. I’m really beginning to think he is ‘super human’…. I am simply mesmerized when he plays. I can listen to him 24/7… really!!!
I have been able to turn a handful of folks onto him and I still thank goodness for best friends Kathy & Shadow turning me on to Joe.
The coolest part of this concert was that it was a mix of the Muddy Waters & Howling Wolf concert I saw in Denver. Just when I think he can’t get any better – there he goes proving me wrong! The mixture of songs was incredible. I wish I could scream it from the roof tops – if you have not seen him in person you simply have to. In lieu of that if you truly are not a concert goer you really need to get your hands on his DVD’s – I simply love his CD’s, but to see the passion he puts into his music is priceless. I could go on and on with which songs are my favorites and why. But nothing beats (except all of “his” other songs) watching him sing the true Blues music – Blues Deluxe live in his Albert Hall DVD will bring chills to you – I promise.
I can always rattle on about how much you have to “experience” Joe… Please oh please check him out!!! Okay I will quit whining – and leave you to check out 2 of the videos I took at the Phoenix show and check out my fave pics. Enjoy!!!
I know some of you might be saying Foreigner? Aren’t they so 80’s??? Well – they are way more then just a band from the 80’s. They have truly stood the text of time! They put on one of the best shows. I will never miss them – they will actually be with Kid Rock here in Phoenix on August 26th at Ak-Chin Pavilion. I can’t wait!!! It was such a great night – and happened to be Kelly Hansen’s Birthday so that was a blast to sing Happy Birthday to him. Have they had a few lead singers – well of course the answer is yes and I have been around for ‘all of them’… but I really do love Kelly Hansen. Check out their website – they are not going away any time soon and I can guarantee you no one left unhappy!! You can definitely tell they truly appreciate each and every fan and are so personable through the entire performance and holy cow what awesome songs. I just love going to a concert where I know the words to every sing song. If you’re a rocker in any way, shape or form, you will be glad you came – so check out their schedule and don’t miss them!
