Foo Fighters – Denver Aug 2015

Now – there really isn’t much to say about seeing the FF’s except that it was exactly everything I expected and more!  From the crowds anxiously anticipated start – where they dramatically hoist up the infamous Foo Fighters logo’s curtain – quite awesome – to the final ‘goodnight’ it was endless entertainment.  David Grohl basically has the crowd in his hand the entire show!  He’s is personable, entertaining, talented, and just a great story teller.  Even his “thrown” was better in person that in all of the endless stories we’ve all heard about and seen since his incident in Sweden when he broke his leg (ouch, quite a severe break).  I, for one, appreciate his open opinion on everything he talks about.  Yes – he throws around the “F” word like a truck driver, but I find it part of who he is…

You can really tell that he appreciates every minute/second of his career and realizes that it could end tomorrow and that nothing in life is guaranteed!  Which is how I feel all artists should feel…  Not just health (though let’s face it, time ticks away no matter how hard you try to stop it) – but more about the musical taste and last fad that has caught on which could be totally different then what the coolest bands think they will withstand time…  well what a surprise to a lot of those bands, right?   Especially if bands go down a ‘path’ that is not ‘their path’ to go down…  and still know they know they should stay true to themselves.

I remember one of my favorite drummers of all time – Mike Portnoy – really put things into perspective with me.  He said no artists is better then he has shown me to no just is’s books by it’s coverl  anyone else… there are only favorites! – – – This is sooooo true, and I truly think

At the end of the day – “open your mind” – they sure have, this is apparent in their songs.  I it a really cool concept they use to put out albums…    They have mentioned recently that their plan on any new albums will closely follow their process of traveling and writing new music based on creation on the inspiration felt during the trip.  Hard to do for sure, but it was really quite an experience through watching Sonic Highways series.  Either way, if they keep producing music they have in their last few albums, they will for sure strike gold.
